 STUDY CARDS

Specification:In any application based on the Microprocessor , we would find that various peripheral chips are also used. Therefore it is necessary for the students to fully understand the functional and operational aspect of the various  chips available from Intel. The commonly used chips are 8255, 8251, 8253, 8279, 8257, 8155, & 8259. Apart from these chips, the students should also understand about the chips like Buffers, decoders or latches etc. The ET-Study card series is designed with that aspect in mind. The entire range of peripheral study cards available is as follows:

  • 8255 Study card: allows to study the various modes of PPI chip with 24 I/O lines
  • 8155 Study card: allows to study the various modes of PPI chip with 22 I/O lines & timer counter
  • 8253: Allows to study the various modes of this 16 Bit Timer/ Counter chip.
  • 8279: Allows to study the Keyboard as well as the Display Controller action of the Keyboard cum Display controller chip
  • 8251: The operation of this USART chip can be studied. The necessary cables and the software is supplied along with the card for the interface to IBM PC/AT
  • 8259: Allows to study as to how an Interrupt controller functions along with Microprocessor. Actual servicing the Interrupt is shown in the example.
  • 8257: Allows to study as to how a Peripheral Chip generates a DMA request and how the request is serviced by taking control of the BUS
  • 8212: Allows to study as to how does an 8 bit Latch functions. How the enable signal controls the functioning of the latch
  • Buffer/ Decoder /Latch /Memory: This card allows to study the functioning of Latch, Buffer,
